Not Even The British Are This British
John Flinn, the travel editor for the San Francisco chronicle recently wrote an excellent piece about his travels in Darjeeling. His vivid descriptions of all the places I used to haunt as a child are spot-on!
The story starts off with an indignant (Indian) guest at the Planter’s Club lamenting the fact that the club had run out of cucumbers for their cucumber sandwiches.
“I say,” protested a tweedy guest in mock indignation, arching an eyebrow for effect. “Rather bad show, that.”
